Midea’s Cube enters the mark as “the world’s first extended dehumidifier with a lift and twist design.” Uniquely, it can compress to half its size for storage while sporting a three-times-larger water tank, allowing it to run up to three-times longer than comparable dehumidifiers. According to the company, “traditional dehumidifiers often have small water tanks, which negatively impact their overall performance and require frequent emptying, up to seven or more times a day.”
The tank’s water capacity is selectable for water levels from 1 to 4.2 gallons. The Cube also has a no-bucket option whereby users remove the water tank and place the unit above a sink or position it over a floor drain. Also, the unit’s cube-shaped design supports a multi-directional air intake system, which the company claims will reduce the growth of mold and mildew in all areas.
As expected, users can control the Midea Cube remotely via the Midea Air smartphone app, available for iOS and Android devices. The Cube’s sensors and algorithm allow it to accurately predict how long it will be until the tank is full. And the icing on the cake, the Cube responds to voice commands through Google and Alexa devices.
