Partners Perpetrate AI Across Next-Gen IoT Devices

by Mat Dirjish

Infineon Technologies is collaborating with Picovoice to develop an end-to-end voice platform that brings artificial intelligence (AI) based voice recognition and control to edge devices. The partnership will enable smart voice designs in ultra-low power IoT devices using Infineon’s PSoC 6 microcontrollers (MCUs).

The partner’s end-to-end voice platform is a private voice interface employing existing Infineon PSoC 6 devices with AIROC Wi-Fi, a low power CapSense touch interface, and cloud connectivity. The platform also employs Infineon’s XENSIV MEMS microphones.

Collaborating with Picovoice expands Infineon’s machine learning and AI ecosystem by allowing system developers using PSoC 6 the option to add voice features for IoT applications. Developers can use a PSoC 6 Pioneer Development Kit and the IoT Sense Expansion Shield with an option to sign-up for a free Picovoice trial account. Additionally, they can run code examples using Infineon’s ModusToolbox to bring unique smart home and wearable applications to market.

The Infineon PSoC 62S2 Wi-Fi BT Pioneer Kit and the IoT Sense Expansion Shield are available now. The kit includes a PSoC 62 150-MHz Arm Cortex-M4 and 100-MHz Arm Cortex-M0+ cores, 2 MB of Flash, 1 MB of SRAM, the Murata Type 1LV module, which provides IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n-compliant, IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi with Bluetooth 5.0, the Infineon XENSIV MEMS microphones, and several other sensors.
