Band’s Fourth Expands, Gets A Remix And Remastering

by Mat Dirjish

Okay, yet another classic music album has an anniversary, in this case, The Band’s fourth album titled “Cahoots” achieves its 50th anniversary. And, as is the custom of the music biz, this album’s benchmark gets remixed, remastered, and re-released in a 50th anniversary edition costing far more than the original issue from 1971.

On December 10, 2021, Capitol/UMe is set to release the 50th  anniversary packages. They include a multi-format Super Deluxe 2CD/Blu-ray/1LP/7-inch vinyl box set along with digital, 2CD, 180-gram half-speed-mastered black vinyl and limited-edition 180-gram black vinyl packages. Band member and principal songwriter Robbie Robertson oversaw all releases of the edition.

Capitol/UMe will celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Band’s classic fourth album, “Cahoots,” with an assembly of newly remixed, remastered and expanded 50th Anniversary Edition packages, including a multi-format Super Deluxe 2CD/Blu-ray/1LP/7-inch vinyl box set along with digital, 2CD, 180-gram half-speed-mastered black vinyl and limited-edition 180-gram black vinyl packages.

The box set, CD and digital configurations feature unreleased recordings, including Live at the Olympia Theatre, Paris, May 1971. This is a bootleg partial concert consisting of 11 tracks from the The Band’s European tour.

If this offering is your cup of tea, you can pre-order your copy today at The Band Cahoots page. If not, there’s absolutely nothing I can do about it.
