Industrial machine-vision company Cognex introduces the In-Sight 2800 series vision system, which reportedly combines deep learning and traditional vision technologies in an easy-to-use package. According to the company, the system automates error detection in minutes with no programming experience necessary.

The system’s EasyBuilder interface guides novice users through application development processes step by step. For experienced users, an intuitive, point-and-click interface simplifies more complex application development.

Pairing deep learning and traditional vision tools enables users to solve a plethora of inspection applications. They can use tools individually for simple jobs or chain several together for more complex logic sequences.

Of note, the toolset includes ViDi EL Classify. Using as few as five images, this classifying tool is trainable to identify and sort defects into different categories and correctly identify parts with variations. The ability to classify by multiple features or characteristics allows users to solve more tasks with a single vision system.
