Concept Car Forecasts Future EV Designs

by Mat Dirjish

Making its world debut at Monterey Car Week, the Acura Precision EV Concept electric vehicle (EV) demonstrates the company’s focus on performance through design. Acura claims it took design inspiration from Italian power boats. Created by the Acura Design Studio in Los Angeles, the concept model expresses Acura’s future vision of EVs with both manual and autonomous operation.

Inspired by the artistry and harmony of form and function unique to luxury Italian power boats, the vehicle boasts a wide, athletic stance, expressive silhouette, and sharp character lines dressed in Double Apex Blue with a matte finish. It previews an electrified powertrain through a dramatic evolution of the company’s Diamond Pentagon grille, Chicane DRL signature, and new Particle Glitch lighting on the front and rear. The Particle Glitch design also appears on the spokes of the vehicle’s 23-in. wheels.

Made from sustainable, environmentally-responsible materials, the car’s interior offers an immersive experience that engages the driver’s senses. Drawing from the cockpit of a Formula 1 race car with a low-slung driving position, high-performance driver sightlines and a two-grip yoke-style steering wheel, the interior space features dual experiences. First, an Instinctive Drive mode that heightens the performance experience and a calming Spiritual Lounge mode during autonomous operation.

Instinctive Drive mode provides a dynamic connection with the machine via racing-style digital instrumentation and red ambient and pipe lighting. Spiritual Lounge mode retracts the steering wheel and transforms the cabin into a warm, calming experience with soothing scents and underwater animation projections. Additionally, the Acura Precision EV Concept previews the company’s next generation human-machine interface (HMI) with an intuitive hyper-wide, curved transparent display and haptic touch response.

Following its world premiere at a private reception Thursday, August 18, 2022, the Acura Precision EV Concept will publicly debut on Friday, August 19, 2022 at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering. For greater gleanings and enlightenment, peruse the Acura Precision EV Concept stats page.
