by Mat Dirjish

Otentu is self-described as a marketplace and development platform for students of diverse art genres to sell their works. The intent is to transform art and design projects into appreciating creations for buyers to pinpoint and cultivate emerging talent.

According to Otentu, students spend a lot of time and money creating artworks and passion projects, many of which they discard. Rather than lose these expensive projects, the platform connects art and design students and graduates with global art consumers and connoisseurs. Basically, it provides an opportunity for students from art and design schools to sell their art projects to buyers looking to discover and support new talent. Concurrently, Otentu develops the students’ commercial skills.

Founder Lior Arussy said, “I discovered that only 10% of art students make a living as artists, and saw a clear and urgent need for a resource that would empower up-and-coming artists to democratize access to their passion projects and assignments. This platform helps to discover and develop emerging artists and designers who are making the world a brighter, more hopeful place. When art projects and assignments transform into commercially viable art pieces, the planet will be healthier, the collector inspired, and the student supported.”

With an expert board of art, design, and branding advisors, Otentu reviews the students’ submissions. The Otentu team then works closely with the students to align their creations with consumer needs and desires using data-driven business and trend analytics plus persona-based customer segmentation.

Students and recent graduates up to five years after graduation from 235+ schools that include Parsons School of Design, Rhode Island School of Design, The Glasgow School of Art, Wimbledon College of Arts at University of Arts London, and the Royal College of Art, can list their creations for sale on Otentu. Otentu accepts creations in a wide variety of categories including art, photography, wearable items, accessories, home décor, jewelry, etc., and each creation listed is an original, one-of-a-kind work.

Otentu will invite successful creators to create limited-edition collections with financial backing and platform support. To shop or become a creator, visit the Otentu website.
