Mass Air Flow Sensors Boost Accuracy In Medical and Industrial Devices

by Mat Dirjish

Designer and manufacturer of high-performance, low-cost sensors and sensing solutions Posifa Technologies introduces its PMF82000 series mass air-flow sensors for medical and industrial devices. According to its maker, the PMF82000 sensors combine accurate low-flow measurements with fast electrical responses and a low pressure drop to help designers improve control loops and extend battery life in compact systems. They provide both analog and digital outputs in a small package that easily integrates into oxygen delivery, respiratory care, and other flow-measurement applications.

Specifications include an accuracy of 1% of full scale (FS) from 0% to 25% FS and 4% of reading from 25% to 100% FS. Typical flow response time is 9 ms and, operating from a 5V supply, current consumption is 20 mA. Other features include a 0.5V to 4.5V analog transfer function with a corresponding digital count, support for over-pressure to 30 psi, an operating temperature range from -25°C to +65°C, a warm-up time of 5s, and I²C communication.

For ease of integration, the PMF82000 supports push-to-connect compatible fittings with an outside dimension of 6 mm. Wetted materials are nylon, FR4 and silicone for sealing. Samples and production quantities are available now from Posifa and authorized distributors. For deeper details and greater gratification, procure and peruse the PMF82000 series datasheet.
