Bosch Sensortec’s BMI5 motion sensor platform addresses emerging immersive XR systems, agile robots and feature-rich wearables. The platform consists of three sensors:
- BMI560 targets Extended Reality (XR) headsets, glasses and advanced Optical Image Stabilization (OIS+) in smartphones and action cams
- BMI563 provides extended-range for high-dynamic motion sensing for robotics and XR controllers
- BMI570 delivers activity and context recognition for wearables and hearables.

The BMI5 platform employs Bosch’s latest MEMS architecture, which specifies a latency below 0.5 ms, a time increment of approximately 0.6 µs, and a timing resolution of 1 ns. Sporting industry-standard LGA packages to simplify integration, the sensors integrate a programmable Edge-AI classification engine that supports always-on functionality by analyzing motion patterns directly on the sensor. As per the company, this reduces system power consumption while accelerating customer-specific use cases.

Samples of the BMI5 motion sensor platform are available now for direct customers. The complete product line is set to enter high-volume production in Q3 2026. For deeper details, peruse the BMI560, BMI563, and BMI570 datasheets.
