Upbeat Studio, a music education technology company and creator of Drum Notes, an AI-based practice system for drummers, sees AI-driven learning outpacing traditional online tutorials. The company believes platforms like YouTube provide access to near-limitless knowledge, but they do not provide structure. Without direction, feedback, or a plan that adapts to individual needs, many self-taught students consume volumes of material but stop making progress.

Meeting this challenge, Upbeat Studio introduces Drum Coach, which it describes as an AI-powered platform that creates a personalized practice curriculum for each drummer. Accessing a library of 1,000+ exercises that cover technique, coordination, music reading, and style, Drum Plan creates routines tailored to the drummer’s skill level, goals, and available time. As the drummer progresses, the plan adapts.
Raul Rodrigues, founder of Upbeat Studio, notes, “I’ve spent years working alongside drum educators, studying what makes the best teachers so effective. It’s never about having more content. The best teachers give you structure, progression, and clarity on exactly what to work on next. We identified those patterns and built them into Drum Plan, so that every drummer can access that level of guidance, regardless of where they live or what they can afford.”

Drum Plan is available now on iOS and Android as part of the Drum Coach app. Drummers can start building a structured routine today with Upbeat Studio’s free practice guide. Also visit the Drum Notes page.
