Finland-based plug-in company oeksound has refreshed its flagship dynamic resonance suppressor plug-in Soothe by rebuilding its algorithm from the ground up. Retaining the features of previous versions, Soothe3 adds capabilities such as low latency mode, multichannel support, and more user controls.
Soothe3 has a new detail parameter that combines the sharpness and detail parameters from Soothe2 for a more streamlined workflow. A hide-able side panel contains the usual stereo controls along with new tilt and max cut parameters.

Along with workflow improvements, some features open up new environments where Soothe3 is viable for use. The low-latency mode allows the use of Soothe in tracking to enable more polished sounds. Soothe3’s multichannel functions open new possibilities in immersive formats, supporting up to 9.1.6 setups.
Reportedly, the most important aspect of Soothe3 is that it sounds better. According to Aleksi Taipale, the product lead for Soothe3, “The redesigned DSP algorithm is significantly more transparent in everyday use. This makes speedier use safer, so that users can get to the more musical side of their work faster without having to spend too much time tweaking Soothe.”
Soothe3 is available now, priced at $259 and the upgrade costs $55. For more details and/or to purchase, visit the oeksound website.
