3D Printer Overcomes Traditional Printing Problems

Sovol, specialists in 3D printing technology, unveils its flagship M1D, a 3D printer featuring a build volume of 300 mm x 300 mm x 350 mm and the company’s DualX System. A seven-color, multi-material FDM platform, the DualX system promises to disrupt desktop manufacturing by combining the batch-production efficiency of Independent Dual Extruders with the multi-material versatility of an advanced Tool Changer system.

As per the company, conventional single-nozzle multi-color systems exhibit excessive filament waste, long retract cycles, and produce large amounts of purged plastic. The M1D overcomes this via its DualX system. Using a mechanical locking mechanism, DualX enables toolhead swaps in under five seconds across seven color options with zero redundant movements. This allegedly eliminates the sluggish overhead that traditionally limits users from adopting multi-color production.

DualX employs lightweight printheads that minimize inertia during high-speed printing to ensure micro-level repeatability. Each toolhead has an independent heating, cooling, and sealed filament pathway. Idle heads remain thermally stable for instant deployment, which promises to reduce material waste by over 90% and eliminate the need for bulky purge towers.

Additionally, the M1D features a fully-automatic calibration system. Sensors automatically align the X, Y, and Z axes of the toolheads before printing. And, to handle high-temperature filaments, each toolhead has an all-metal extruder assembly and a hardened steel nozzle to ensure extrusion stability and reliable feeding when running high-temperature materials.
