Vishay Intertechnology’s RPWA 650 series thick film technology (TFT) power resistors can handle up to 650W of continuous power in low-profile packages. Offering customizable cabling and optional temperature sensing integration, the components reduce parts counts while simplifying designs and assembly.
The resistors feature a cold-system baseplate design that enables efficient heat transfer to an external heatsink. This maintains stable operation over a temperature range from -55°C to +155°C.

For further space savings, the components integrate a power resistor and optional embedded NTC temperature sensor in a single housing. Customizable cabling and an easy-mount design with self-calibrating pressure eliminate the need for board-level soldering while reducing wiring and assembly complexity. Other features include resistance values from 6.2Ω to 1 MΩ, a maximum operating voltage up to 6 kVdc, dielectric strength to 7 kVRMS, typical self-inductance of less than or equal to 40 nH, tolerances down to ±5%, and support for a variety of circuit functions including pre-charge, discharge, active discharge, power conversion, and snubber operations.
Samples and production quantities are available now with lead times of eight to 12 weeks. For greater gleanings, procure and peruse the RPWA 650 series datasheet.
