When it comes to component selection, Vishay Intertechnology’s D2TO20, D2TO35, DTO35, and DTO35/D2TO35 thick film (TFT) resistor sample kits can make life a bit easier. The kits promise to simplify component selection and validation for high power designs, while reducing time to market. Each kit provides surface-mount, automotive grade resistors in TO-252 (DPAK) and TO-263 (D²PAK) packages with a wide range of resistance values and an optional PCB test board for electrical and thermal evaluation.
In compact, surface-mount packages, the sample kits offer power ratings of 20W and 35W, allowing designers to reduce the number of parallel resistors or larger through-hole devices. Highly viable for automotive, industrial, and other high reliability designs, all resistors in the kits are AEC-Q200 qualified.
Specs and features include a resistance range from 1Ω to 47 kΩ with selected E-series values, a non-inductive construction and electrical isolation between the resistor element and the metal tab, and compatibility with standard surface-mount assembly processes, including reflow resistance up to 270°C for 10 seconds. The components come on cardboard tape strips with each strip holding four resistors in ascending order of resistance value for easy identification. Combined with optional PCB test boards, this organization promises to reduce lab setup time and accelerate design-in.
