Saving space in tight-quarter designs, Vishay Intertechnology’s D2TO35S top-side cooling mount, automotive-grade thin film technology (TFT) resistor resides in a compact surface-mount TO-263 (D²PAK) package. As per Vishay, the component improves thermal performance and delivers a dissipation of 35W at 25°C. Transferring heat directly to a heatsink, the D2TO35S enables up to nine times greater power dissipation than standard PCB-mounted devices when paired with an appropriate heatsink.

The resistor relies on a non-inductive design that promises to improve signal integrity and power handling in fast transient conditions. Specs include a resistance range from 4.7Ω to 550 kΩ with tolerances down to ±1%, a thermal resistance of 4.28°C/W, TCR down to ±150 ppm/°C, and an operating temperature range from -55°C to +175°C. Additionally, the component is RoHS-compliant and solder reflow secure at 270°C/10s.
Samples and production quantities of the D2TO35S are available now with lead times of 14 weeks. For further enlightenment, procure and peruse the D2TO35S datasheet.
