GoPro describes its latest MISSION 1 line of 8K and 4K open-gate cinema cameras as the world’s smallest, lightest, most rugged cinema cameras suitable for any mission. The MISSION 1 PRO, MISSION 1, and MISSION 1 PRO ILS cameras employ a 50-MP 1-in. sensor and the company’s efficient GP3 processor. All three feature an interchangeable Micro Four Thirds lens system compatible with a wider array of lenses via adapters.
GoPro’s 50-MP 1-in. sensor sports a larger surface area plus larger native 1.6-µm pixels and 3.2-µm fused pixels. This allows it to capture more light for professional low-light performance. Other features include up to 14 stops of dynamic range at the sensor.
The latest GP3 processor features an ultra-power-efficient 5-nm design, enabling longer battery runtimes, better thermal performance, higher resolutions, faster frame rates, and better overall image quality. Additionally, an AI Neural Processor Unit (NPU) enables next-generation video pixel processing and impressive low-light image performance.
Depending on the model, other series features include 16:9 video resolutions, professional-grade 8K 16:9 video at up to 60 fps (2X Slo-Mo), 4K 16:9 at up to 240 fps (8X Slo-Mo), and up to 10-second burst 960 fps in 1080p 16:9 for 32X Slo-Mo. Users can also capture non-burst 1080p 16:9 (and 1440p 4:3) at 480 fps (16X Slo-Mo).
MISSION 1 PRO, MISSION 1 PRO Grip Edition, and MISSION 1 will be available for preorder beginning May 21, 2026 with global on-shelf availability starting May 28, 2026. For deeper details, visit the GoPro website.
