Scientific instrumentation company KPM Analytics introduces its MCT700 Series near infrared (NIR) sensors, groomed specifically for food-processing applications. The components deliver continuous in-line measurement of moisture, fat/oil, color, and product temperature. Installable over conveyors, augers, and chutes, the non-contact sensors are suitable for monitoring baked and fried snacks, doughs, crackers, breakfast cereals, and food ingredients.
The MCT790 NIR sensor provides real-time data for manual or automatic adjustment of production equipment. It is viable for use in challenging production line locations including hot, greasy, and wet environments and its stainless-steel IP69K-rated housing is washable using harsh cleaning solutions. Other features include an internal fan for thermal management and an IP67 display that typically mounts beside the line.

For applications not requiring color measurement, the MCT700 and MCT750 in-line NIR sensors measure the same parameters as the MCT790 except for color. The MCT700 is IP67 rated with a standard Kel-F sensor window and the MCT750 is IP69K rated with cooling features and a rugged sapphire sensor window. Features common to both models include measurement speeds up to 100 readings per second, ease of use, integration, operation and replacement, and on-board diagnostics.
