Insta360, developer of 360º capture cameras, claims its flagship X6 8K 360 camera takes the biggest leap into 360º capture in the history of the company’s popular X series cameras. JK Liu, Founder of Insta360, explains, “”X6 is the camera we always wanted to build. It captures everything around the user, in any light, and produces a finished edit before reaching a phone.”
As per the company, the X6 sees more light than any X camera before it. Custom dual Sony 1/1.1″ square sensors deliver 1-inch equivalent 360 imaging, 33% more sensor area than X5, and approximately four times the light intake per frame.
Behind the Sony sensors sits a triple AI chip: one 8-core 3.3-GHz 4-nm processor paired with two dedicated imaging chips. Reportedly, they provide 500% more computing power than X5, a 106% faster clock speed, and 35% lower power draw. A low-light mode adds two ambient light sensors to cut flicker and pull more out of night scenes, while AdaptiveTone 2.0 meters each lens on its own and captures two exposures per frame.
Additionally, the company claims X6 is the first 360 camera with in-camera Dolby Vision. Other features include a 2.32-inch OLED display with up to 1,200 nits of peak brightness, 2600mAh Xtreme Battery delivering up to 140 minutes of 8K 30 fps of 360º recording, support for fast charging to 80% in approximately 24 minutes, and reliable performance in temperatures as low as -20°C.
