Conventional PSG usually requires patients to spend a night in a hospital, connected to more than 24 wired sensors placed across the face, chest, abdomen, and legs. Once attached, the patches capture the primary physiological signals necessary for PSG without cables. These include electroencephalography (EEG), electrooculography (EOG), electrocardiography (ECG), electromyography (EMG), respiratory airflow, blood oxygen saturation (SpO₂), body position, and physical activity.
The PSG system’s capabilities rely on a six-layer flexible printed circuit board design, an integrated a/d converter, wireless noise-reduction, and electrostatic discharge protection to maintain signal quality during extensive monitoring. Also, a low-power design enables use in both hospital and home settings.
Data from the wireless skin sensors integrates with SOMNUM, the company’s AI-powered sleep analysis software that automatically analyzes critical sleep indicators. By automating parts of labor-intensive scoring and interpretation, the platform can help medical professionals review sleep studies more efficiently.
